September 17 vs Twins

Don't worry about it at this rate we'll clinch by August 17th

Man does this talk make me cringe when we have 13 left with them. Let's not too cocky just in case. We don't need bulletin board material for the Twins message board :)

We have won NOTHING yet. Once we get through this stretch with the Red Sox, Yankees, Twins, and Angels should we start acting cocky.

I hear a lot of Sox fans say their not scared of the Yanks or Red Sox in the playoffs. Those teams have boatloads of playoff experience and we have none. Also, those teams can drop 10 runs on us in an inning in a heartbeat. We can't. Until we win the division, we are the three-time second-place Central champs. Until we win the pennant, we have to go back to 1959. Until we win it all, we have to go back to 1917.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but a season of 100+ victories can be destroyed by three bad games in October. Remember 2000. We couldn't hit a beachball against Seattle.

I absolutely love this team, but nothing is over until it's over.

Hell.  I wouldn't miss Steff's well placed barbs for the world.  Even if I am the occasional recipient.

ditto. Plus it's just one screen name to another. Being a grandma from outside Toronto when y'all think I'm from Texas makes that easier.

I mentioned beating the Yanks and the BoSox in the playoffs. What I didn't do was disrespect those teams and their accomplishments. What I was doing was saying that beating those teams would give us our yearned for respect. Although, I didn't put it quite so delicately.

I completely agree.

I guess it's just a lifetime of getting my baseball hopes stomped on that makes me absolutely scared to death of playing teams like the Red Sox and Yankees. No matter how many games we win, if John Garland is pitching with a one-run lead to ARod in the playoffs, I will fear the worst.

We definitely should all be fearing them. We play the Yanks well during the regular season.. but as they have showed the world they become super human in the playoffs. Boston.. I'm not sure how "scared" of them I am yet. They are still high from last year... the Yanks have a hunger about them. And with a boss like GS whipping their asses in the press every chance he gets... embarassment for those guys seems to be a pretty good motivator.

One day at a time though. It's way to early to be stressing about the playoffs yet.

Experience does matter in the playoffs.

Player by player we lose to the Yankees and Red Sox

Teamwork and the "little things" will make a difference.

Ozzie managing the pen in the playoffs has me thinking Grady Little :crying

Couldn't agree more.. The Yanks can play together with their eyes closed.

I completely disagree with this. Overall their lineups are better then the Sox but our pitching staff blows both of their's out of the water.

Like he said.. player by player we lose. If it's only pitcher comparisons, I would agree we'd have a slight advantage.

We'll see how Randy "1st Ballot HoF" Johnson is pitching come October. I would like to believe ours will "blow theirs out of the water" but there are some very good pitchers on their staffs who know the regular season is just meant to get to the dance, not a goal in itself.

Think about Johnson - Mussina at Yankee Stadium and tell me Buerhle - Garland would "blow them out of the water". More accuratly we are talking edge or slight edge.

Giambi v. Konerko

Cano v.

Jeter v. Uribe

A-Rod v. Crede

Matsui - Williams - Sheffield vs. Dye - Rowand - Pods

Currently the Yankees have more .300 than any other starting lineup.

They are still very potent and getting better. Johnson sucks this season and he's 10-6.

Moose is in decline and he doesn't scare me at all. RJ is still decent but he's not what he used to be. Honestly I believe our pitching does kill there's, the only thing they have on us pitching wise is Rivera imo. Why'd you leave Iguchi out vs Cano that wasn't cool. :P Difference of opinion, agree to disagree :cheers
