Griffey WAS a done deal before deadline

Featured Replies

According to the August 10-16 USA Sports Weekly, Ken Griffey Jr. was traded to the White Sox before the trade deadline. Going to the Reds was OF Chris Young, Casey Rogowski and other prospects. The Reds were to have picked up at least $15 million of the remaining $41.8 remaining on Griffey's contract.

Jerry Reinsdorf and Red's President John Allen approved the deal until Red's owner Carl Lindner nixed it.

Griffey and his agent had given the Red's a list of 3 teams he could be traded to which included the Yankees, Braves and Astros, which could be why the Red's owner didn't approve of the trade.

Sorry if this has been posted anywhere before.

Ok I guess this info was posted somewhere in the trade winds section , but I think a few people might skip that section. Delete this thread if you think it's repetitive.

Both, there was quite a long thread here as well.

All Griffey talk, unless he actually comes here, is in trade winds now.
