1.) The 40-Year-Old Virgin $16,434,000

2.) The Brothers Grimm $15,093,000

3.) Red Eye $10,400,000

4.) Four Brothers $7,825,000

5.) Wedding Crashers $6,250,000

Rising comedy star Steve Carell remained at number one for the second consecutive weekend with the hit film The 40-Year-Old Virgin which displayed a remarkably strong hold in its sophomore frame. The Matt Damon-Heath Ledger adventure The Brothers Grimm, which was widely expected to premiere on top, settled for a decent debut in the runnerup spot. Other new releases The Cave and Undiscovered saw disappointing results in their openings as moviegoers chose to catch up on holdover titles during the dog days of summer.

I'm going to see Virgin on Friday when I go back out to school. I already saw Four Brothers and Wedding Crashers. I think I'm going with friends to see The Brothers Grimm and The Aristocrats next week, too.

Do yourself a favor and don't go see Brothers Grimm. I didnt know what to expect because the previews didnt show much, but it is really a kids movie, and not a very good one at that.

Its not a kids movie. It's a Terry Gilliam movie where story is sacrificed for visuals. Like every Terry Gilliam movie, visuals come first. Which are - quite stunning at times.

40 yo virgin ! "feels like a bag of sand" LMAO!

Now, now...Monty Python And The Holy Grail was Gilliam...and that was friggin' brilliance on all levels.

Labeling "Undiscovered" a disappointment is an undetstatement. This movie grossed nearly $700,000--averaging out to $530 per theater. "Gigli," in comparison, averaged $2,000 per theater and was considered a monumental flop/disaster film. We may be witnessing another Gigli-esque sweep at the Razzies.

Yes, but I don't count that. That was more Monty Python and less Terry Gilliam.
