Show Thomas the love

Featured Replies

I'll make it a bit simpler for people that just cant grasp it:

Frank Thomas = White Sox since '89

Curt Schilling = Red Sox since '04

Conclusion:

Chances of Red Sox fans not being a fan of Schilling > Chances of White Sox fans not being a fan of Thomas

Final Thought:

Not a fair Comparison

Good explination, if that was the comparison being made.

Why not just let it go rather than trying to start s*** by saying you need to make it simpler for people aren't grasping it. It looks like you are stuck on respect for a player having something to do with tenure. It doesn't.

I don't want to lock this. Ya'll have had your say. I know what Steff was trying to say, and "some people" have had to twist it to make a point. The argument's over.

Getting back to the topic at hand...I'd love to see the White Sox retire Frank's number. He's done so much for the team since the beginning and has brought this generation of Sox fans to the ballpark through the bad times and through the good times, all wating to see Frank hook one over the left field bullpen.

This was not an argument on my end. Apples and oranges were being compared, I just tried to explain my point. We all know how well that goes over around here lately..

I know, and I think we all know... sometimes, we all get too wrapped up in the wording of what people are trying to say. Sometimes, it's intentional, sometimes not.

Schilling represents the BoSox, because he's forced his mouth to be the team spokesman. Thomas represents the team, because he's been here though good times and bad. Not necessarily "tenure" related, but "respect" related for what he's done for the organization.

I think that's a great debating point, but not something to get all twisted in. I think your point was well made and I think People's point is well made in a different way. Let's debate the point, not the language.

Please, let's try to stick to topic. Apples and Oranges. Or something like that.

Oh, it was Frank Thomas.

:bang

My point is Frank has done more for the Sox than Schilling has done for the BoSox, so that is not a fair comparison.

Well, Schilling did win a WS with the Red Sox. That's something. I'd rather have had Thomas for only a couple years and win a WS with him than have him his entire career and only get a few division titles. I'm a little selfish, though :D

Ok

Steff is right in the fact that I shouldnt assume that all White Sox fans are Frank Thomas fans, I get that. What I dont get is how can you not be?? Save all the outside negative publicity that he gets or has gotten, he is a player and should be judged by the things he does "on" the field

all that said tho, I bet that if i polled 100 Sox fans, 99 would be Frank Thomas fans

and I'll stick by that

Ummm... how do I put this?

I have issues with Frank Thomas, but I respect him for what he's done for the organization as a player. How's that?

That makes two of us.

Three. And since Boz isn't around, I'll put his four on here.

I guess that is fair. But are these issues that are brought to light because of the media, or issues that have been made by own observations?

Maybe if he was with the team when he was injured, ala Scott Podsednik and basically any other Sox player who has been hurt this season including a World Series champion like El Duque, I would be in favor of this.  I haven't seen Frank at one game this year since he went on the shelf.  Does he even care about this team and if he does, why isn't he in the dugout every game?

He was in Seattle. I find it funny that people never even posted this.

FRANK DISCUSSIONS: Trainer Herm Schneider said Frank Thomas plans to spend the weekend with the Sox in Seattle. Thomas, who still has a cast on his injured left ankle and is out for the season, will be only visiting and not getting treatment.

Schneider said Thomas' first X-rays since he has been in the cast looked positive, and some healing was observed. He will undergo X-rays every three weeks. Thomas is trying to give his ankle injury time to heal and avoid the same type of surgery he had last offseason. He's expected to undergo a partial CT scan next week to get a better look at the injury.

Greasy.. it was mentioned. But I don't think he ended up making the trip. Didn't see it reported anywhere anyway.

Good to hear, just as long as the Frank-bashers don't try to turn this around and make it sounds selfish like they do with every Paulie quote... :P

I like Frank, but this is the stupidist thing I have ever heard. So lame. A recognition day for a current player? Give me a break. :headshake

The irony :rolly

Big Frank is the man :cheers

I do hope his career, and namely his career with the Sox isn't over. But when his career does end, I personally would love to see a day comemorating his stardom.

I'm pretty sure we would've seen a shot of him somewhere in the stadium, rather it be in a luxury box, the dugout or the stands had he been there. I never saw that, nor did I see anything from the Sox that he was there.

I thought the same thing when they honored Baines after trading him. Yet, I thought the big celebration for Fisk was appropriate, then they screwed that up by cutting him shortly thereafter.

Frank Thomas stopped into the White Sox clubhouse today before the doubleheader in Texas, saying his ankle was beginning to show signs of healing.  He is scheduled to visit the doctor on Thursday for another checkup.
