Frank is a class act and a whitesox icon..

He deserves the repect he has earned being a whitesox!

Fair enough and I agree.

But, at the same time, wouldn't it be bad ass to have him in the dugout for our playoff run? I for one would be estatic.

I mean just picture this scenario. We're facing the Red Sox in the ALCS, Uribe has a horrible AB his first time up. He goes back to the dugout, the camera pans to him sitting next to Big Frank. Then Juan comes up for his next AB.....WAYYYY BACK, YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, the thought of this.... :headbang

I'm guessing that this is an injury that his doctor in Vegas would want to keep an eye on. If there is rehab going on right now, and I"m not sure if there is, I'm sure Herm could do a great job, but it's probably easier around Big Frank's doctor, since this is a recurring injury.

Does anyone know if he calls members of the team to give them support? Email? Snail Mail? Seriously, just because he is not with the team, doesn't mean he's not with the team. And Podsednik's injury needed rest, not a cast. He wasn't told to stay off of the leg, nor was he put in a soft cast. Nor was he out for the season. And did you forget the two days he spent in Charlotte and not with the Sox? Should Pods have been with the Sox or on a rehab assignment?

Frank has done and said a lot of stupid things in his career, but not being at games this year after possibly rushing back from his previous injury (only saying that because he injured it again) is not something to get in a huff over.

To further clarify my earlier post.

They were talking on the radio the other day, I cant remember if it was 670 or 1000, but they said Frank was planning to join the team in the dugout very shortly.

No hard feelings

just a huge Big Hurt fan :gosoxretro:

Good points. I think I have a question to add fuel to the fire. In his other DL stints in the past, has he spent a decent amount of time in the dugout?

No offense, but I don't think there's a person on this site that isn't a fan of Thomas as a player. He's done great things for this team.

thats all that I was trying to say. I wasn't trying to point a finger at Boz, in general I was just saying its kind of hard to claim that you are a Sox fan if you cant appreciate what Frank has done for this organization. thats all

Keeping in mind that appreciating his efforts and being a fan of his are 2 different things. I know a bunch of Red Sox fans that can't stand Shilling but realize the effort he gives while pitching.

Well, I guess it really comes down to your definition of fan. I think someone can appreciate what a player has done with being a fan of his. This is a far-fetched comparison, but I think it makes some sense. I appreciate what Sosa and McGwire did to help baseball with their homerun chase, but I am certainly not a fan of them.

Schilling is completely different though, he hasn't spent his entire career on the BoSox

Maybe it's different for you. Why not just leave it at that.

There was a period of about 8 years where the name Frank Thomas was synonymous with White Sox. When you think of the Boston Red Sox, in the past 8 years there are probably 10 other names that would leave your mouth before the name Schilling

Please don't presume to think you know what would leave my mouth, or the mouths of others. I was specific in my comparison to respecting the play of a player and not the person. Nothing at all to do with tenure. Don't try to alter my comments to make them seem something they were not.

My point is Frank has done more for the Sox than Schilling has done for the BoSox, so that is not a fair comparison.

and for the record I was not speaking of your mouth, but mouths in general so no need to get all worked up

My point had nothing to do with what either has done for their respective teams, rather how the fans feel about them. Again.. please just read what's there not what you are trying to make it.

And my response covered both my mouth and others mouths in general.

No.. I was just trying to point out that I was not comparing length of playing time with one team or another. I know plenty of people who don't like Frank but respect his play. When he didn't get that I thought I'd try using Schilling. Obviously.. that didn't work. :banghead
