September 25, 200520 yr I honestly think that Ozzie is going nowhere in 2006, no matter what happens this year, but stranger things have happened in MLB.... I think Piniella would be a great fit as manager of the Chicago White Sox in 2006... In the Trib today it was mentioned that the chain between Reinsdorf, the Hawk, and Piniella is "transparent" (whatever that means).... do you think that means that the Hawk could have something to say about Ozzie's status next year????? September 25, 200520 yr Sure, it would be the best thing ever to happen to this franchise at this moment in time. It's just not possible though.
September 25, 200520 yr I would love for it to happen, I just don't see it happening. Hopefully we win the World Series and Ozzie could be out of here as manager. He should be a broadcaster. "Lou is teh managah. He maa da lineup car's, naht deez keedz."
September 25, 200520 yr I say we hire Piniella as manager next year and give Ozzie a job like his son has. Keep the guys lose in the bench and be an interpreter. Sort of a motivator. So we give Ozzie 's son's job to Ozzie and his son as the official bat boy. I still want Ozzie to stay with this organization for a long time. Edited September 25, 200520 yr by Ozzie Montana
September 25, 200520 yr Wouldn't it be worth it just to hear how many times Hawk could say the phrase "Sweet Lou"? One of these years also, Steinbrenner is going to just give up and fire Torre. If they miss the playoffs this year...who knows.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but there has been a lot of speculation of both Cashman and Torre out the door this year. I'm 99% certain Cashman's contract ends after this season and if his Steinbrenner-hand-picked Yankees fail to make the post-season, I think you very well may see both Cashman and Torre out of the Bronx. If that's the case, enter Lou Piniella.

I get this feeling Lou is not the type of manager JR would ever hire. Just look at our list of past managers.

September 25, 200520 yr QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) They'd have to give Torre a ton of money. When it comes to firing managers...I don't think anything could stop the Stein if he really decided to do it.
