Sports Illustrated is making the Tribe its cover story for the upcoming issue. But as with most things beyond the field, the Indians were ho-hum about the national attention.

"Yeah, it's cool," said Aaron Boone.

His sentiments were the consensus in the clubhouse. The team seemed more enthralled with Travis Hafner's segment on Spike TV. Coco Crisp orchestrated the segment as a prank on "Pronk."

Hits newstands tomorrow.

:gosox1:

Guess the only thing thats left is to get a damn hit, I guess a win wouldnt hurt either.

i think for the first time this year the indians are pressing a little bit.

The Sox are also on this cover. Konerko doing what he does best.

i've watched the indians all year. unfortunately they are the only games i get regularly on television.

what was happening to them then and what is happening now is entirely different. sizemore's error the other day is a great example. something like that hasn't happened all year.

how many indian games do you watch?

Losing the ball in the sun is not an error. It happens. That's a terrible example.

I think the Indians were pressing in April too. Just watch some of the games against us and how bad guys like Martinez and Hafner were.

They were also hitting in awful conditions at the Jake. We won a few games there earlier in the year cause the wind was howling in.

they had a chance to climb back into the race coming off of the all-star break and they laid down for four. Looked like they were pressing then too.

and yes, I'm aware that they are in the race NOW, I meant THEN.

Oh so it didn't effect us, but it did them. This is making a lot of sense. Seeing as how especially ineffective the Sox are when it's cold, typically.

sorry kapkomet, you are dead wrong here. We are not NEARLY as affected by winds and bad weather as other teams. Didn't you watch the first Cubs series? There is a reason we were the best team in baseball when the weather sucked. It favors our style

Maybe this year.

I know for every year in the past 15 or so it seems like this team didn't do crap until May.

2000 was an exception, and even then they didn't catch fire until May into June IIRC.

Edit: do crap OFFENSIVELY

Even Hawk was talking about these games a few days ago. Hafner and company were hitting bombs vs the Sox, but they were being caught at the warning track due to the wind.
