October 11, 200520 yr Anybody remember the Smurfs from 80s Saturday morning TV? I found this pretty humorous, although the issue of third world child soldiers is serious enough that I do feel a little guilty laughing about this article. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/10/smurf_village_razed/ The offending cartoon, created with the full approval of the family of the Smurfs' departed creator Peyo, the Daily Telegraph notes, sees the cuddly blue creatures kicking off the action by dancing hand-in-hand round the campfire while singing that catchy Smurf song we all know and love. Death then begins to rain from the sky as bombs spread fiery death through Smurfdom

I found this pretty humorous, although the issue of third world child soldiers is serious enough that I do feel a little guilty laughing about this article. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/10/smurf_village_razed/ I say...about damn time those Smurfs got what was coming to them. I mean, c'mon...99 Smurfs and 1 Smurfette. Something veeeeeeery funny was going on there.
October 12, 200520 yr I read an article about this earlier today. And it said that usually UNICEF shows starving children and real children in war ravaged places--kinda graphic stuff apparently. Anyway, in the article it said the reason they switched to the smurfs (shouldn't the plural techinally be smurves, but I digress) was to SHOCK people. So, starving, abused, homeless orphan children are no longer shocking. Sad.
October 12, 200520 yr smurfs had it coming anyway, did they think war wouldnt reach their little happy world?
October 12, 200520 yr In the howling wind comes a stinging rain See it driving nails Into the souls on the tree of pain From the firefly, A red orange glow See the face of fear Running scared in the valley below Bullet the blue sky Bullet the blue sky Bullet the blue Bullet the blue ...ah...ah... In the locust wind comes a rattle and hum Jacob wrestled the angel And the angel was overcome You plant a demon seed You raise a flower of fire See them burning crosses See the flames higher and higher Bullet the blue sky Bullet the blue sky Bullet the blue ...ah... Bullet the blue ...ah...ah...ah...ah...ah...ah... This guy comes up to me His face red like a rose on a thorn bush Like all the colors of a royal flush And he's peeling off those dollar bills Slappin' 'em down One hundred, two hundred And I can see those fighter planes And I can see those fighter planes Across the mud huts where the children sleep Through the alleys of a quiet city street WE take the staircase to the first floor WE turn the key and slowly unlock the door a man breathes into a saxophone through the walls you hear the city groan Outside it's America Outside it's America Across the field you see the sky ripped open and the rain all through a gaping wound Pounding on the women and children pounding the woman and children Who run.......who run Into the arms... ...of America
