I agree with you 100% idseer. KW may have put this crap together but it is up to JM to teach the fundamentals and mental aspect of the game. Obviously, he can't get through to any of the Sox starters..... and for some time now.
May 14, 200322 yr ive never had a problem with jm.... he did a good job bringing things together in 98-2000 .. his troubles began the day kw took over..........that will soon come to an end though.... his troubles came the day he was hired. he has had exactly ONE good HALF season under his belt in all this time. the last half of his "manager-of-the-year" season he managed them to a .500 record (not to mention his post season flop) ... proving the first half of '00 was a total fluke. he's been .500 ever since. he has proven over and over he has no clue to situational managing. he doesn't understand his pitchers OR his runners OR his pinchhitters. and this team is just about the worst at fundamentals. these things are what being a manager is all about! he had nothing to offer from the start and he's learned nothing in all this time. he HAS TO GO!

Now if those two get canned and the Sox go on a hot streak, then JM will save his job and I won't really care, but I would like Backman up here. Part of me still believes Manuel could be good, if in fact he hasn't been doing things on his own. Still, too many times he doesn't go with small ball and to me I'd much rather have that kind of guy. I know people say he's a small ball guy, but not enough for me. I love the small ball.
