November 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Is that better or worse than being a sod? I don't know. But I've never gotten a good answer to this question: What the hell is a Sloane? I've heard people called that and read it, but what the hell does it mean?
November 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) He'd probably tell you that you just spelled spelt wrong too. There are a couple of places where we have it flat out wrong here though. I'd much prefer 'petrol' to 'gaaass' (except that it would screw up a great Hawkism). And I'd like to fix the mis-spelling that stuck us with Aluminum instead of the standard international name for the element, Aluminium. THERE'S SUPPOSED TO BE AN "I" IN THERE, PEOPLE!!! . . . bloody tossers. My apologies for my spelling mistakes, but I'm typing this while watching "Lost". So my attention is split. Without spoilers, does anything ever happen in thus program?

I sloan is a girl (usualy) who has had a private education paid for by Daddy and feels she's got it rough when Mummy will only let her have one horsey and not that cute one over there as well and Daddy thinks she ought to get a job, "to give her something to do between manicure appointments."

Thank you! My life now makes complete sense. That must be an English phrase, no one in Scotland knew what it was. They thought I was being daft.
November 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) Oh and she usualy lives in London. It comes from Sloan Square, an expensive area of London.

But you really should get the pronunciation correct. Its Al-U-min-E-um for our pals on the other side of the pond.
