November 4, 200520 yr QUOTE(Capn12 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Assanine trade IMO for the Padres...you don't give up Lawrence for Vinny FOCKING Castilla....wow, good job Towers. I think you overrate Brian Lawrence. He is terrible
November 4, 200520 yr QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Oops; Hahah, classic. Sox-r-us and his FOCKING magic
November 4, 200520 yr This move makes absolutely zero sense for the Pads. Lawrence wasn't that great this past year, but he's been a pretty solid pitcher during his tenure in San Diego and well, Vinny Castilla is a freaking joke. Horrible trade. Pads fans should be frustrated with this move. Talk is David Wells will be back in SD this year and the question is going to be who will be replacing Kevin Towers. Towers will probably rejoin Larry Luchino in Boston as the next Red Sox GM.
November 4, 200520 yr Did Towers turn down the Red Sox job yesterday or something? Yesterday all they were talking about was how Towers and the BoSOx were gonna dance (this is a San Diego sports talk station I was litening to).
November 5, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) Did Towers turn down the Red Sox job yesterday or something? Yesterday all they were talking about was how Towers and the BoSOx were gonna dance (this is a San Diego sports talk station I was litening to). per Rotoworld Padres GM Kevin Towers informed CEO Sandy Alderson today that he will not pursue the GM openings in Boston or Los Angeles. The veteran candidates to replace Theo Epstein in Boston are disappearing quickly. That's probably a good thing, though. Towers was interested in the Arizona job before it went to Josh Byrnes, but he's happy in San Diego now
