November 24, 200520 yr Baldwin is waiting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> james baldwin?? i dont really care about this. doesnt everyone here remember when howry was with us? he wasnt horrible, but he wasnt exactly stellar. we werent going to sign howry anyway. i wouldnt worry about this at all- the cubs will find a way to screw up, somehow. they always do.
November 24, 200520 yr 3 years seems like a long time! Wonder if they will end up regretting that 3rd year like they did with Mike Remlinger.
November 24, 200520 yr Howry had a great year in Cleveland. Good news for us: he's out of the AL Central & the Cubs once again overpaid for a reliever LOL! Edited November 24, 200520 yr by GreatScott82
November 24, 200520 yr QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Howry had a great year in Cleveland. Good news for us: he's out of the AL Central & the Cubs once again overpaid for a reliever LOL! Exactly! Thank You Cubs!! Anything to beat back Cleveland a little bit. Honestly, Eyre and Howry are good pickups, I wouldn't have minded seeing either of them on the Sox (not at these prices though), but keeping Howry off of the Indians doesn't hurt. November 24, 200520 yr Wow, 12 million for a 32 year old guy 2 years after elbow surgery. Did they say if all 3 years are guaranteed? They've surely replaced Reminger, in fact, he could be their next Matt Karchner. So they've spent 23 million dollars for a kid with ADD and a guy with a funny elbow. Both these guys need to be carefully spotted, in terms of who you let them face -and who better than Dusty to do it! Remember what a great job he did with Hawkins? Brilliant!
November 24, 200520 yr Hawkins, Borowski, Farnsworth (at least with the Cubs), now Eyre and Howry, man... Hendry's got quite an eye for relievers!
November 24, 200520 yr Plus we all saw how interesting Howry makes it even when he is healthy. He had serious control problems when he was with the Sox.

November 24, 200520 yr Well if Howry and Eyre pitch like they did last season... Than the cubs have a very good end of the rotation with Dempster too. If they add in that leadoff hitter they might actually be a good team. Especially if their pitchers stay healthy Also Glendon Rusch if he isnt switched from starter to bullpen back and forth might be a good arm in the pen also.
