December 2, 200520 yr I see the Phillies are going 3 years, $18 million with 38 year old Tom 'Flash' Gordon. Aren't these the same guys who said they let 34 year old Billy Wagner go because they didn't want to give a 4 year deal to that old a player? Me thinks the $ 4 mil annual salary difference has more to do with it than the Phils want to admit to their fans.

December 2, 200520 yr WOW 6 mill/ year for a setup man? Not even a closer is worth that. Unless he is Mariano Rivera or a 100% healthy Gagne. Whats with the inflation in price for relievers?
December 2, 200520 yr This means the Yankees will get Farnsworth to replace him. I wonder how much they will over pay him?

December 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) HUGE mistake Um.. no. Flash has proved time and time again that's he's a very good closer. The 3 year contract is nuts for a 38 year old but he'll be a fine closer for them this year.
