The Critic
I'm watching Sox Pride right now, and I keep seeing Shingo smiling. It sucks that he couldn't be part of all this. I know he lost it and he had to be replaced, but he was the highlight of 2004 for me. Of course, I'm watching the highlights of 2005 right now, and it's a LITTLE better than 2004.... Drew
I will always remember game 2 of the Cubs/Sox series on the South Side last year. Bottom of the 8th they bring in Shingo to get Sammy Sosa for the third out. Bullpen gates open with the gong. Two-strike pitch, one of those frisbee change-ups that crossed the plate after Sosa had completed his swing. A resounding "SHIN-GOOO!" from the stands. He made '04 a lot of fun, in no small part to how bad Billy Koch was before him. I would have loved to have him as part of the World Series team. He was a happy guy, just glad to be here, great attitude, and he loved hamburgers.
