SSH2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Share Posted December 16, 2005 Angels released outfielder Jeff DaVanon. DaVanon went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The Angels had only designated DaVanon for assignment at the time. They still had 10 days to trade him but he went unclaimed so they just released him instead. Either way, DaVanon could be a fifth outfielder then. He can also play every outfield position. He would probably be a better option than Borchard or Timo. You could even include Willie in that list, but I think he won't be around. I like DaVanon, but I don't think we need him. Then again, if its a small deal, I have no problems with it. You are right, but I'd rather have DaVanon than Ozuna in the outfield. And for that matter, probably Mackowiak in CF. He is a scrappy player that would fit in perfectly with the Sox.
