I'm not allowing the (I), (L), ©, (S), and any of the rest of the alphabet soup. It's a (D) and ® world. Pick one. :usa

Seems to me there are at least two disparate ® parties right now anyway. The D's are more in the same camp, but they don't have their s*** together just yet.

I think you are shortchanging this board by only putting in D and R. I am willing to bet there are a lot if "I"s out there, and maybe a few G, C and L's as well.

I was a proud "I" for most of my voting-age life until I decided I needed to be able to vote in party primaries and couldn't if I was registered as an Independent.

Im about as hard core of an ® as they come.

That is probably because the Army doesn't allow you to think for yourself . . .

I'm right there with ya NUKE.

I lived in states previously where I's could vote in both primaries, which I kind of liked. Now back in Illinois, and I am not sure how that works here. Anyone know off hand? If I didn't register as affiliated, can I vote in primaries?

Yes you can vote: but you have to declare which party's ballot you would like on election day.

So I can walk in on primary day, pick a party ballot and vote on that one ballot? Gotcha, thanks.

And just as with poorly-phrased public opinion poll questions, you'll get results that will be difficult to interpret, or that will be easy to misinterpret. :bringit

Although the board demographic seems to be heavily skewed toward teenage and twenty-something males, this particular forum may not be totally representative of that. I think you should have allowed a Libertarian choice, since so many young guys trend that way these days until they start accumulating property, possessions, and offspring.

the Libertarian party doesn't want your property, possessions or offspring. You have them confused with the Green party

But they also don't like to bankrupt the government in order to give you more property or possessions.

I far as I know, the Libertarian party is for very low tax rates and very low government spending... so I guess we're both right.
