conservative majority. I wish the Dems would have been successful in their

 

filibuster because Bush could have nominated Brown and Estrada to the bench and

Although I'm not a Dem, let me take a shot at why Byrd is voting FOR Alito.

 

He's up for election in a state that is trending more and more conservative. He's stayed in office so long because he can bring home the pork very effectively...but even that, after a while, is not enough. He's starting to hear footsteps behind him.
