Make your own ice rink...

Featured Replies

He sure laid that ice rink out when the grass was green. Seems like he went to a lot of trouble to do it too. I have an easier idea. Clear the snow from the area to be your rink. Bank up the snow around the perimeter. Fill with water.

That's what we did as kids, but as an adult, I'm liking his design. We usually grabbed shovels and headed to the lake.

One year my brother-in-law flattened out a stretch of his backyard, laid out some thick tarp, built a small border with wood planks and plastic coating and made one hell of a nice little mini-rink. It was about the size of an NHL offensive zone and maybe a bit of the center ice region. Not big enough to play any serious hockey, but a damn good little skating rink.

His lawn was s*** that summer, though, hahaha.

EDITED to add - NO, I'm not Jim Blaney's brother in law!!!

I responded before I looked at the link and Blaney did basically the exact same thing my brother in law did! HA! Except my bro-in-law's rink was a little bigger, from the looks of Blaney's.

I wonder if Blaney's lawn was s*** the next summer, too?

What they don't tell you is that any team formed during this event gets a tryout with the Blackhawks...

I'll be on the power play unit tonight.

Did the Blackhawks use that rink as their practice facility, because they are definitely not playing better than some little kids.

What happened to the good ol days of Roenick, Chelios, Savard, Larmer, Wilson, or Belfour?

He must have a tremendous amount of free time.
