Italian Beef and great food, go to

Al's No 1 Italian Beef

The Hyatt regency is located on 151 E Wacker. The Marriott is 320 N Michigan ave which is about a 1/2 mile away. The Wyndham is right next to the marriott . Michigan ave actually has plenty of hotels to choose from.

If you know how to use priceline.com you may be able to find a decent deal.

And for directions from Kentucky, ask Yasny or use mapquest.com and type the address you are leaving from and your destination is 151 E Wacker , Chicago, IL 60601 . They will give you the Exact directions from Point A to Point B.

65 North to 80/90 West, becomes 90 West, take that all the way into downtown. Take any street East to hit Michigan--off-hand I think Randolph is an Eastbound one-way but I can never remember, left on Michigan a few blocks to Wacker is right on the river.

Al's #1 is good Italian Beef, Greektown isn't terribly far from there for good Gyros and stuff. Portillo's on Ontario near Wells is pretty good too, I go to the other side of LA County to the one here when I need a little taste of home.

Pizzeria Uno and Due are on Wabash a block apart on Ohio/Wabash.

The Berghoff is on 17 W. Adams and will be closing at the end of February, so I recommend going if you can get a table there.

I used to live a few blocks from the Wieners Circle on Clark and Wrightwood, so I am partial to their dogs, Polish, and fries. It's been shown on Insomniac a few times and the counter help screams and swears at you. Good eats, but pretty far into Cub territory. The original Gold Coast Dogs is gone now from River North, but there is at least one outlet on Wabash near State that's still there, IIRC.

I don't know exactly where you are but an alternative route might be the WK Parkway west to I-24 west, then to I-57 north.

Randolph is one-way westbound through the loop. You can exit 90 at Washington, take that for a few blocks, turn left on Wacker after you cross the river, and follow it along the river all the way to the Hyatt (and Mich Ave).

The Sheraton is right across the river from the Hyatt. I have friends who just got a room there for the weekend.

You could almost fly cheaper on southwest (which is what im doing) than drive up from KY by the time you pay parking at the hotel and gas.

I was able to fly up for $95 round-trip.

Louisville to Midway on Southwest is the best deal in airfare, I am convinced. Going down to the ville to visit my friend for a weekend is often cheaper than a weekend at Chicago bars. Sometimes when you can get a reservation in like 3-4 weeks in advance you can get each way for like $39.00, only an hour flight to boot, as opposed to the 5 1/2 hour drive. With only one week to book, you may have to pay a bit more, maybe upwards of $160-180, but with gas and the time, its still worth it.

Yes, I wish that was an option for me, but by the time I drive to Louisville, I'd be halfway to Chicago.

I suggest parking at Millenium Park garage, which is only 1 1/2 blocks south of the Hyatt and is half the price - something like $13-16 dollars for 24 hours.

To get there from I-90, exit at Washington and head east, turn left/north on Michigan, right/east on Randolph which is the next light (this is the point where Randolph becomes 2-way), head down the hill in the center two lanes to go to lower Randolph, turn right on Columbus and the garage entrance is right around the corner. That's where I've parked all 4 years I've gone to Sox Fest.

Millenium park is a solid suggestion. Easy in and out and definately safe.
