Martin and Berke Breathed were friggin' Gods to me. I used to want to be a "stripper" (as Opus called it), and those were the guys I copied.

For me it was all the early EC guys, including Davis and Kurtzman on the (eventual) comedic side, and for the horror and sci-fi/fantasy stuff Will Elder, Bill Severin, Wally Wood, and my favorites Al Williamson and "Ghastly" Graham Ingles.
