Randy Johnson vs. Roger Clemens

Featured Replies

Igot into an argument w/a d'backs fan over who is the better pitcher, Clemens or Randy Johnson. I of couse, said the Clemens, hands down. Clemens had 6 Cy Young awards, and is 30 K's away from joinging Steve Clarton and Nolan Ryan from 4,000 career strikeouts.

Who do you guys think is the better of the two?

well while johnson is no slouch... i have to go with roger on this one.....hes had a stellar career.............and at a time when everyone thought he was washed up he pulled up his boot straps and went out and kicked some bootay..........gotta love that kind of desire ...........

I go for the Big Unit. Clemens achieved stardom more quickly, but Randy could always finish what he started. Randy played on some s***ty teams early in his career and suffered from many blown saves. This is your basic toss up.

Pre-1995: Clemens hands down.

1995-2002: Unit way, WAY hands down. Pedro is his only peer.

Overall, in my time (adjusting for late 90's offensive boom that noticeably inflated pitchers ERA) Randy Johnson is simply a better pitcher, though it's hard to discount Clemens's 1997 peformance.

Unit is also a superior strikeout pitcher.

i'd take RJ at his best over clemons. RJ just is intimidatin as hell when he is on. plus, he is kind of scary looking....looks like a rat. how would you like a 7' rat throwing 100 mph at you??!! LOL

Johnson hands down. He and Shilling alone were enough to win the series. Clemons has no such claim.

Roger and anybody, couldn't touch them that year. I liked Johnson from Montreal what a freak he was in those really ugly uni's.

Randy Johnson, he never played for the Yankees, Roger is playing and is not perfoming very well as his past like when he played for the Red Sox and Toronto. Clemens in New York, he should be a much better pitcher for a great team and he is right now the 2nd pitcher in NY.

RJ hands down

Right now Randy Johnson, in their prime, Roger Clemens.

Who do I think is better? Johnson.

Who would I rather have? Clemens.
