LeCroy could provide some of the power Washington lacked last season. He has spent the last six seasons with the Twins. LeCroy's best season was in 2003, when he hit .287 with 17 home runs and 64 RBIs. LeCroy had similar numbers last season, hitting .260 with 17 homers and 50 RBIs. LeCroy has spent most of his career as a designated hitter. He is considered a below-average catcher and a decent first baseman. The Nationals feel, however, that assistant general manager Bob Boone, a former catcher, can make LeCroy better behind the plate. LeCroy most likely would be the No. 3 catcher. Mark Buehrle is pleased.

We're still not sure how this will work, unless the Nationals aren't going to go with a true backup catcher. Marlon Anderson, Marlon Byrd, Damian Jackson and Robert Fick were pretty much guaranteed bench spots. Ryan Church could also fit into the category if he's not a starter. The Nationals also have Michael Tucker, Jamey Carroll, Bernie Castro, Brendan Harris and Brandon Watson on the 40-man roster. That's a whole lot of mediocrity. LeCroy's ability to hit lefties makes him pretty useful, but Nick Johnson has never needed to be platooned. Manager Frank Robinson is going to have a lot to figure out this spring.

Dude...catchers usually don't get called for errors except on throwing. 40 errors, 25 passed balls, 5-10 wild pitches should do it.
