Yahoo Trade Veto

Featured Replies

In one of my Yahoo Public leagues, someone tried to make the following trade:

Á. Rodríguez (NYY - 3B)

K. Griffey Jr. (Cin - OF)

P. Wilson (Hou - OF)

R. Johnson (NYY - SP)

for

D. Wright (NYM - 3B)

B. Abreu (Phi - OF)

P. Burrell (Phi - OF)

J. Smoltz (Atl - SP)

We vetoed this trade twice in my league since it seemed like it was too one-sided. The one guy got very upset about this, dropped just about all of his players and picked up all KC players (this was fixed by an Admin).

Was this really a bad trade to veto? :huh

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

If you want to check out the teams, the link is below. My team is VandySoxFan

This is why I tend to avoid public leagues, people just dont care and they trade players aimlessly same with some private leagues, i tend to join leagues i know people in, the trade is onsided, guy getting arod is gettin the better deal IMO

Honestly, I don't think it's that one-sided. Does it favor one team? Yes, but not as much as you guys think. Overreaction in my honest opinion.

The injury factor is huge when considering both Griffey and Wilson. I would say the guy who got ARod won the trade, but for the other guy, he is a getting a lot of solid players, which could really serve to upgrade and balance a roster, with only losing two probably big contributors.

Yeah, seems fair to me...

I came at it thinking that there are very few top tier 3rd baseman, and some top tier pitchers, but there are a lot of OF that can easily be replaced. So, if Griffey or Wilson went down, it would not be too hard to replace. So, having them be injury prone was not much of a factor.

I tried explaining why I vetoed, and he started explaining what he was thinking. So, I started to lean towards letting it go, but then some namecalling started and it got a bit ugly.

Thanks for the input!

After looking at the two teams, I would have let it go. The one guy's team isn't very good and would benefit from adding a couple more productive players, and the other team isn't really getting any better unless Griffey is actually healthy. Neither team gains a ridiculous advantage from the trade.

I always have problems when guys try to make multi-player deals. It's always pretty subjective, especially when one player is considerably better than the rest of them. It's hard to determine how valuable someone like A-Rod or Pujols really is.

agreed, I tend to always veto big-player trades and not care about 1on1 trades or 2for1 /2for2.

I would have let the trade go. Yeah Arod is the big name but the overall packages aren't that far apart IMO.

The guy in one of my leagues has 2 teams, Hes giving himself C. Delgado, and david ortiz for B. Wilkerson, and Some other scrub.

That's annoying when that happens. If you are on Yahoo, you can bring it to the attention of the Admins, and they will take care of that. Otherwise, I'd search around the site a bit and see if there is anything that can be done about it.

Eh, deffinitly annoying. It was in the league were i drafted all hitting so it was mainly experimental league, but just ruins the fun. Ill try to talk to admins, because the kid is a total annoyance, just total childish in the draft, and now he does this.
