1st trip to Spring Training

Featured Replies

I will be heading to Arizona next weekend. I have tickets to the Sox/Cubs game on the 18th at Tucson Electric. I've been to ChiSox.com and Tucson Electric's page, but havn't found anything more than a game schedule and directions to the park. If anyone has any tips/info/websites on how to make the most of the trip I'd appreciate it.

-Are practices/workouts open to the public?

-Are they held at Tucson Electric?

-When is the best time to get autographs? (pregame, postgame, practices)

Thanks!

If there is already a discussion about this, feel free to yell at me for clogging the boards and point me in the right direction. I tried using the search bar, but had a little trouble.

As far as workouts and practices. I think the stadium opens up 2 hr's before (maybe its 1hr 30 minutes). However if you get there early you can go over to the minor league parks (you'll see a bunch of parks) and you can almost stand next to the minor leaguers as they do drills, bp or whatever they are scheduled to do.

In terms of directions, IIRC its off of Kino Expressway or Parkway. But you'll see signs on the freeway and when you see the signs just realize Kino Sports Complex is where they will play.

maybe pin one of these spring training threads for a few weeks.....seems like there is a new one everyday

Look for the walkway between the Sox clubhouse and the stadium, then stand back there. There will be a fence between you and the players, but I was able to get Big Hurt to autograph a jersey for me when he was walking to the park from the clubhouse.

Thanks for the help.

I also spotted one of the older threads that had a good number of responses.

I've got a much better idea of what to expect now.
