April 14, 200620 yr So with all the steroid talk going around and people discussing how home run numbers will now drop back to the mean, we see 46HRs in a single day...in April no less. I heard an announcer the other day (can't remember if it was hawk and dj) mentioned how they are using harder baseballs this season. Is this MLB's way of making up for the loss of steroids? This is bad news for Sox considering we base our team around pitching in an all ready friendly hitters' park.
April 14, 200620 yr They juiced the ball to make up for the fact that the players are (mostly, of course some are still on HGH) not juiced anymore, that's pretty obvious IMO watching the games. Combine that with the fact that the pitchers aren't juicing anymore and you get this (and yes, more pitchers were juicing than people realize). And this does nothing to hurt our team, we have even more power than last season with Thome and our pitching (starting at least) is still the best in baseball, which is good regardless of what kinda baseballs are being used.
April 14, 200620 yr Yeah I first i thought it was just a fluke but now it really does the "juiced ball" theory is probably true. Personally id rather they just use normal balls.... hitters are better athletes now anyways than from the past still be a number of guys who hit them in the 40's.
April 14, 200620 yr I have been conducting betting experiments, and I've made a few hundred dollars over the past couple of weeks. Just bet on the over for every single game. It's easy money for the time being. The oddsmakers will wake up at some point, though.
April 14, 200620 yr I heard Jack Morris (who was doing some commertary for Twins Radio on Wednesday) say that the ball is traveling different in Metrodome in the then 2 games that had been played there but remember back in the mid-90's, the juice ball theory was the reason people were hitting home runs. turns out a lot of players were juiced.
