Say we were about to get Backman, wouldn't league rules force us to give them a list of black managers considered or something like that? I don't agree with this rule a team should be able to hire whomever they want. Do you have to give a list of white candidates if you select a black coach? I doubt it.

Heck all he has to do is call Harold Baines and Ozzie Guillen for a couple of token interviews to beat that rule. The rule isn't THAT hard to follow. You have be completely ignoring the rules to get in trouble with this provision.

I believe that if you promoted from within your organization, they would b**** too much. Florida hired Jack McKeon from outside, I think. That's why they got their wrist slapped.

What angers me is the fact that even if you have a specific coach in mind you still ahve to get the list of minorities or whatever.
