June 6, 200322 yr Maybe it's just because the Sox won the AL West 20 years ago this year, but why are we comparing the '83 team to the '03 team ? 1983's team was the exact opposite of the crap that we've seen so far in 2003..... with the exception being both team started off weak. The comparison ends there.

The comparison ends there. Not totally different. Only difference was the 83 Sox ran like hell. They played bad defense, great hitting, Great pitching. and bad baserunning but they made the opponent make errors by running so much. 03 pitching is not too bad accept Garland and a fgew morons in teh bullpen. We also had a good manager then.

So you're saying that if it wasn't for lack of team speed, better hitting, a better manager, and better pitching..... especially from the BP..... then 2003's team would be as good as 1983's ?
June 7, 200322 yr This team does not remind me at all of 83. I don't think they were ever 8 below .500. They went 50-16 to finish the season. The starting pitching was awesome and lots of clutch hitting. They were good and lots of fun, especially when they got on that end of season roll. Best Sox team in my lifetime, I'll say it again.
June 7, 200322 yr Relax fellas I saw that comparison too.....the Sox told the media through their media relations that the 83 sox came back with almost identical records as of now to win their div by like 40 games or something No one is saying this team reminds them of the 83 sox....except for the sox media relations trying to spin some positive to keep some fan interest in this season
