does anyone know why hawk calls a broken bat hit a matt abatacola? i know who abatacola is but i dont understand where the new term came from.

that was funny too...hell send the hawk an email and ask him.

Does it seem to anyone else that DJ is just flat out smarter than Hawk? I just get that feeling.

Wow...I don't get that feeling at all. I think DJ is definitely a few beers short of a six pack. I think his preparation is pretty good and when talking about something he has notes on or is ready for, then he speaks fairly intelligently, but if it's off topic he usually sounds lost.

I do think they have developed some decent chemistry and DJ's play by play has improved leaps and bounds.

I don't mind Hawk calling out Moronotti. I don't really need any more hineybird explanations, but I don't mind him calling Jay a first class ass. Jay has a mouthpiece to spew his drivol, so why not Hawk. He usually sums up my feelings on Jay pretty good.

I too have noticed that their chemistry has improved greatly and I enjoy them together.

DJ has some great, great one-liners. Yes, he's obviously smarter than Hawk--Hawk's a good ole' boy who has some good old-time stories.

But they are both great together and I too also noticed that DJ's play-by-play is getting pretty damn good.

Wouldn't want to listen to anybody else right now.

I thought he was a Pirate...? The one hitting like .350, right?

D'OH!

My mistake.. You are correct sir!

My grandpa always had a funny view on Harrelson/Farmer.

He said he didn't mind when Hawk talked about his baseball days, because he would always put himself down, but at the same time Hawk was good. He HATED when Farmer talks about his baseball career, because according to my grandfather, he sucked! :D

(...although I believe Farmer DID make an all-star team)

DJ's professionalism rose quickly when he first got on air. Theres a reason why FOX uses him occasionally for National Telecasts, he can be informative and well spoken on the air

Ive always been a big DJ fan but Hawk is starting to get to me. Which is strange because I always loved Hawk but this season he is starting to get on my nerves. I hope he doesnt stick around long enough where he becomes what Johnny Red Kerr or whatevr is to the Bulls.

I like Kerr, but I can definitely see where you're coming from. His random "OH!"'s are almost Santo-esque.

Let's just hope he (Hawk) doesn't become another North Side version of Harry Caray.

I agree, Kerr is terrible. I am from Philadelphia and have the DirecTV package for every sport (minus Hockey obviously) so I can watch my beloved Chicago teams. Kerr is painful to listen to, most of the time I have to mute the TV and listen to the radio broadcast via Sirius. I don't mind Hawk as much, but he is a ridiculous homer. The man makes no bones about whom he's rooting for.

Hawk cracked me up last week when describing nervous relief pitchers:

"Some of these guys' rear ends are so tight you couldn't pull a greased-up hair out of there with pliers."
