Almonte continues to get ripped, his stats are getting downright ugly. Glad Ginter was moved to closer.

R. Hankins is a good prospect???

  • Author

He is not what you would call a great prospect, more of a guy who does not look like he is accomplishing alot, but in the end he has pretty good results and seems to get a lot of big hits. I like him, have spoke with Rex about him several times, guess he is not quick nor big, but just seems to get it done. Maybe does not play too great of D either, at least range-wise. Seems to be a leader and gets it done, I like this kind of guy.

What's his numbers?? I think he is putting some good numbers.

He bats L or R?

All the way up to .305 now. 65-213 with 18 doubles, a triple, 7 homers, 35 RBI, 4 steals, 3 CS, .390 OBP and .498 Slugging Perc., 29 BBs and 35 Ks

Thanks man, it's good numbers....390 OBP. 18 doubles.

righthanded hitter

1) Yofu needs to go back to the 'pen. That's where he'll make a living hopefully later this year replacing Rick White.

2) Kohlmeier starting??? When'd this happen?

2) Kohlmeier starting??? When'd this happen?

I know Baltimore experimented a little with him as a starter.

Personally I like the switch, he was not getting it done as a reliever, and this seems to work.

Well, at least Almonte's ERA changed from 6.66.

What is wrong with Almonte? He has put up great numbers until this year. Is he hurt, is it mechanical or what?

Yofu and Kohlmeier will start until starters get healthy. Right now, you have Stewart, Cotts, Malone, and Ulacia all on the DL. Did I miss anyone at AAA?

He just is not that good of a prospect, not sure why anyone got too carried away with him, he probably has reached his top level he will see. I am sure he is a nice guy and all, but not a top prospect or a closer for that matter, he was better off as spot starter and long reliever where he could use more of his pitches.

You talking about Kohlmeier?

Well, I know one thing, in the next top 50, Almonte will be falling.

Well, I know one thing,  in the next top 50, Almonte will be falling.

Yeah, we have to talk about that.

Like where is my futuresox graphic?

Get me the access and I'll get a lot of work done.

Thank You.

Well, I know one thing,  in the next top 50, Almonte will be falling.

I wouldn't call him top 40 right now, especially after the great seasons he had in the past and still never got the call from the Sox. There's definitely something about this guy that they don't like.

Rex, I was talking about Almonte, I think about as much about him as I do Kohlmeier

Almonte certainly seems to have lost it. He was a very good pitcher in 2001 and 2002. Struggled badly this year, especially of late.

Almonte was the minor-league saves leader in 2001 and 2002 combined. This year, on the other hand, is awful. He's 26, in AAA, and has an ERA in the high 6's. I'd see him dropping a ton on the list :)

I hope he can turn things back around. Bit MSF had a fair point in that despite his success, he has never seemed to be high on the Sox list. Likely because as a closer he doesn't throw hard and his changeup is his best pitch. Foulke-like, I guess.
