July 6, 200619 yr whats up with Matt Long? I realize he only pitched 4IP/4G with the Kannapolis intimidators but those stats are scary. I hope he can fast track it though the milb level and be with the sox in the pen by mid '07 ala Cordero/Street.
July 6, 200619 yr I was under the impression, before I clicked on the link, "stats are scary" was lingo for "dominating." Then I clicked on the link and understood you really mean scary, as in bad. See, what you have to do is consider every prospect a bust until proven otherwise. Unfortunately, the "proven otherwise" have come far and beteween each other for our system. I'd rather label everyone a bust than believe a college closer will be in the majors next season. It's not as if we have a track record with developing pitchers.
July 6, 200619 yr Author lol sorry for the "scary" fade flash. I understand where your coming from with the "proven otherwise", but im holding out some hope.
July 6, 200619 yr 4 ip after skipping rookie ball? C'mon... No reason to even think about this until two months or so.
July 6, 200619 yr When you consider his first professional appearance was a 2/3's of an inning 5 ER outing, his 3 and a third inning giving up 3 runs, but only one earned looks alot better. I'm sure his numbers will continue to get better as he ends the season. His last outing was nice, 1 IP, 1 K, 0 ER, and his first win. I'm more excited about Daniel Cortes though on that squad. I'm kind of suprised he hasn't been talked about much here. 19 years old and putting up nice numbers in A ball as his ERA contiues to fall. Edit: just noticed the talk about Cortes on the other thread, funny. Edited July 6, 200619 yr by Palehosefan
July 6, 200619 yr His era is way bloated from his first outing...... take that out and he has been fine.
