greasywheels121
It took me forever to find the time to listen to the show this week, but I finally got to it! Gage got feisty on the Sox this week. You’re right about the Sox being more dependent on offense this year. And as you said, no one could’ve/should’ve expected that going into the season. It was thought the offense was going to be an upgrade over last year’s. And that would’ve made the team impossible to beat, if the pitching kept doing what they were all capable of. However, the pitching’s been a big disappointment all the way into August. Mario’s right too. The Sox aren’t doing this because they know the season’s a long one, and they’ll turn it on when they absolutely need to. They’re all just struggling. The positive as he pointed out, the pitchers are all capable of putting offenses on lockdown. They all did it for a full 162 + playoffs last year. Rob Mackowiak definitely deserves no blame for any of his problems in center. He never played there on a consistent basis. He’d be a lot better fitted on this club, if he used effectively in the corners of the infield and outfield. I agree about the homers being overrated. I was definitely feeling that way leaving the 2004 season. I was excited about doing the smaller things in ’05. Yes, the homers were there, but we didn’t depend on them. It feels like the only way we can score this year is via the home run. Hermanson deserves a lot of dap. He’s forgotten for what he did, since it was the first part of last season. However, he was lights out, and I will always appreciate what he did for the Sox regardless how his tenure here ends. And I hate Hawk now. He’s gotten even more ridiculous now, with his obsession of everything woe is Sox (bashing the umps, etc.) I love DJ though. I wouldn’t mind DJ flying solo, or getting a new partner soon. ---- Great show guys. You guys need a show on CSN/ESPN.
