A plea to White Sox fans

Featured Replies

Sure it does, until we see the same mindless drivel day in and day out by the same three or four posters.

If you bring analysis and insight, that's one thing, but it's surely another to just rant and b**** and piss and moan about the same s*** day after day offering the same solutions day after day.

People shouldn't be talking about problems with the rotation? People shouldn't be talking about the lack of contribution from guys like Podsednik and Uribe? People shouldn't be talking about Ozzie's bad managing? What is this board for? What should we be posting about? Different ways to cheer for the Sox? More predictions about how we'll sweep upcoming series and win the division?

Sure there are bad, repetitive, substanceless posts about problems with the Sox. There are also bad, repetitive, substanceless posts which are about everything being ok. How many times have you read someone say, "hey, we've still got a good record, everything's fine," or "We won the WS last year, you should have more faith in this team." What good is another rant about everything being fine and offering the same alibis day after day?

Ah, ah, ah. You mentioned that the Sox have lost ground, and that the Twins lost Liriano. But I don't see anything about the Tigers, Yanks, Sawks, A's, Angels, or Rangers. And you call yourself a fan.

LOL

Dude, we get it, you missed the point of the thread.

What negative thing can you say about the Twins? Liriano being out? That's what we're gonna hang our hats on? We've lost ground since he's been out.

Two words - Carlos Silva

Nope, I understood it all too well.

I wish they would create a new forum called "Cheerleader Talk". That way, all of the everything-is-fine-all-the-time crowd can get together and compare cheers and discuss how wonderful the team is.

Dude, we get it, you completely missed the point of the thread.

A list of other teams' problems:

Tigers -- 120-win season is not guaranteed

Twins -- Lost Liriano

Yanks -- Lost Ponson

After laughter dies down, Lost Matsui and Sheffield

Sawks -- Lost Cy Young and only got a lousy Josh Beckett

Rangers -- Teixeira still ain't Teixeira

A's -- Lost Harden

Angels -- Lost Colon

See, now we can just put this list in our sigs so that our posts too can be Greg-tested, Hibbard-approved.

I've got 8 words for you: Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, Javier Vazquez.

Edit: Make that 10 words. Damaso Marte.

Yeah, Carlos Silva is so bad, the Twins have only managed to win 6 of his last 7 starts. If Don Cooper was evaluating him, he'd say you can't complain about him. Silva has given up 21 ER over his last 39 innings. Wouldn't that make him our 2nd best starter over that stretch?

But hey, we won the WS last year. This is the time you should be savoring Buehrle, Contreras and Garcia. I guess you can savor Vazquez because we traded Hernandez for him. A real fan would pretend that we're rolling towards another postseason.

You didn't mention anything about the rotations of every other AL contender. Why do you hate the Sox so much?

Obviously you guys are right, the mighty Twins are headed straight to the World Series and the White Sox are the only team with real weaknesses.

I honestly can't thank you all enough for pointing this out to me. How blind I've been!

Now I can stop following this team and stop posting on this website, and maybe do something more worthwhile with the last couple of months of my summer

Apologies for all the wasted time, mods please delete this thread

Not tryin' to be a dick, Greg. But pointing out other teams' weaknesses doesn't make me feel any better about our own. I know there isn't a perfect team out there.

We're not allowed to point out inaccurate statements? All I was saying is that if we're going to say negative things about the Twins, Carlos Silva isn't a reason to bash them right now. I wasn't in this thread when we were discussing the negatives about the other teams. My personal opinion is that the only team that matters to us right now is the Twins. The Twins have been playing excellent baseball for about the last 70 games, and that's why they've gone from a team 10 games below .500 to a team 20 games above .500. That's quite the turn-around, and they're firing on all cylinders. We've lost 5 of our last 6 games to them, so we need to find a way to compete with them in the final 2 series of the year against them.

If anyone had made that point or anything close to it, your sarcasm would be appropriate. However, it is not. Not even close.

Blind homer, that is.

Now that sounds productive!

Another painful loss for the Soxtalk community.

This pretty much has been beat to death and isn't going anywhere. We all get it now.
