Several hours ago, about half a block away from my house, there was a crash involving Eisenhow football players -- as I gathered -- driving to post-practice/pre-homecoming festivities.

 

Cook County Police taped off Harlem Ave. between 135th and 131st to recreate the scene. Never a good sign. Neither were the departing ambulances without sirens. Neither were the several Eisenhower football players crying on the side of the street.

 

I'm not certain if it'll reach tomorrows presses, but if there were fatalities, I feel terrible for all parties involved. Even if the accident was the result of alcohol/drug consumption, whenever a student dies tragically it literally tears apart a community. From personal experience I can say this.
