Carpenter's numbers werent really better... Roy Oswalt on the otherhand deserved it more than both of them and somehow received the least amount of votes.

Oswalt: 15-8, 2.95 ERA, 220.2 IP, 166 K's, 1.17 WHIP

Webb:16-8, 3.10 ERA, 235 IP, 178 SO, 1.13 WHIP

 

Same amount of losses, almost identical wins, Carpenter has the much better WHIP and K/9.

 

Oswalt only has the edge in ERA.
