Rosie O'Donnell laid a smackdown on "American Idol" this morning from her perch on "The View," saying that "Idol" canned former contestant Frenchie Davis for her breast-baring snapshots, but kept current wannabe Antonella Barba despite hers -- because Davis is black and fat and Barba is, well, not.

I missed last night. I did record it though. If it was terrible, it might be worth a watch.

I don't know one person that finds her attractive, funny, interesting or entertaining.

I've just read on a few sites about how bad it really was last night!!! Now I am REALLY excited to see last nights episode. That show is sooo much more fun when everybody sucks!

Howard Stern had Frenchie on, I believe, Monday morning. She gave her point of view, but Howard and Robin were arguing it's not exactly the same because Antonella (sp?) didn't get paid for her pictures and Frenchy did. They mentioned something about Idol had a former stripper on and kept her, they said that was a better comparison (not sure if that's true or not)

 

I guess I would say it's discrimination against "beauty", or what our society views as beauty, which many may argue has racial undertones. I know the second I heard Antonella's pics were out there I was on the internet looking for them, because I think she's an attractive woman. I did not look for Frenchie's because I don't think she's attractive. That may make me a terrible person in somepeoples eyes, but it is the truth.

 

I guess it boils down to what is this contest really about on Idol? Is it a singing contest, like the judges like to label it? Or is it a contest for an American "Idol" where singing is one component of it along with looks and personality? I guess with that basis Frenchie should have been kept on (also because I believe she fronted to the producers about the pics before they came out) and let America decide.

Frenchie was paid to be on a Adult porn site called "Daddy's little Girls" Antonella poised for some pictures with friends and for her ex boyfriend which we're never intended to be plastered all over online. That said, Antonella needs to go because her singing blows. As far as AI having a stripper on, I would agree that would be a much better arguement, with regards to Frenchie, but I never heard that before. Either way the "racist" card gets pulled out way too much.

Didn't the Antonella pictures, the nude/sex pictures, also prove to...um...not be Antonella? The goofy/flirty pictures are here, but the others are not. So I would guess that would have something to do with it all also.

I don't think they were proven to be her or not to be her either way. Her friend stepped up and said they were not. Again, I don't think it really matters. Let's say they were for her.....

 

Why penalize a girl for doing something that every does? She didn't release the photos. Someone was trying to either cause problems for her or make a profit off of her. She had no control over their release.

 

All that aside, the other thing is Idol is different than it was in Season 2. At the time, American was still trying to establish itself and a contestant that got paid for photos done on a fake kiddie porn web site would not be good for "the American Idol brand". Now, American Idol is fully entrenched into American life. Idol is so big, they can just basically ignore situations like Barba's, essentially like flicking a bug off its shoulder.

 

Anyone crying racism here is just idiotic. Or just too stupid to understand there are differences in the two situations.

The show is almost pointless right now. The guys all suck, and nobody can really touch Doolittle.

Seriously, can they just take all of the girls and tell the guys to go back to parking cars or busing tables?

That Doolittle woman is good, but she looks like a librarian. She looks 20 years older than she is.

Anyways, the usual suspects should be gone, Antonella and that Haley girl that Simon (nor I) knew her name. She knows she's going home.

 

Naperville Catfight chick Gina was good and may get a lot of votes as the other African-American belter girls fight it out.

See, and I thought Gina sucked. IMO it was a case of the judges really not being too familiar with a song, and being completely naive on a style of music. They showed it last year with Daughrty (sic?) also. Just because he got up there and "Rocked" didn't mean he was good at the style. But since our judges don't know s*** about Rock, they thought he was good. There are a million guys slugging it out in Rock bands around the world who can sing circles around that Chris Daughtry guy, and a million female Rock singers who stomp the crap out of Gina. BUT those people don't go for American Idol. The chick from Evansense is MUCH stronger vocally than Gina (and I can't stand Evansensce). If any of our judges had any knowledge of the style they would have torn her to shreds as they do when somebody butchers a tune by Whitney or Celine. Same with Daughtry, he was a very mediocre Rock guy, but they don't know the style at all, so they loved the way he butchered the tunes and made them all tough sounding, when they actually sounded pretty wussy, partially due to a band that is too technical to REALLY Rock.

Daughtry has the #1 song in Casey's Top 20 right now. I don't like it, but it's true.
