Duel 150's today. Michael Waltrip Racing already under heavy penalties that will not just effect them this weekend, but through the whole season and possibly into next season as well.

Waltrip will need to get his cars fast on qualifying days will out cheating for at least this season. Waltrip will now have to in essence have race his way in every week which made a tough task of getting Toyota in to cup much tougher.

Waltrip's "apology" was so phony. he knew what they were doing. He may be technologically challenged, but he isn't that stupid, no racer, much less team owner is. If wasn't out-right told when it was done, I'd have to believe that it was for plausible deniability rather than he just didn't know at all. Sort of like the team discussed it and agreed that MW wouldn't be told when it was going to happen so his denying it would sound truthful.

I never really had a problem with him (mostly because he has been a non-issue/non-competitive race for sometime), but thisis a huge black eye on Toyota.

Looking forward to the Duals this afternoon.

Kevin Harvick is the Daytona 500 Champion in a photo finish with Mark Martin 2 one-hundredths of a second. In the last 48 laps 25 cars ended up with wrecked or with a DNF.

What a wild last 48 laps.

I was going for Martin too, it would've been cool to see him finally win.

I'm a casual Harvick fan, so I'm thrilled that he won. Martin is a good story, but he's not even going to run all the races or compete for the championship, so I'm glad Harvick won.

Jeff Burton seriously showed his driving skills today getting through 3-4 wrecks.

It was scary seeing Clint pull a Sadler and then catch fire.

I hope Josh Yost is okay - he busted butt recovering from his pit road incident (When Rusty hit him, all his tendons and ligaments in his ankle were severed).

I also hope the crewman the 26 took out is okay - all they've been saying is that he is alert and they had ice on his ankle on his way to the infield care center.

It hurt to see the 21 starting to move up only to be taken out while he was minding his own business.

I saw that happen and the announcers never said a thing and then I never heard an update. At first I thought he got his leg run over.

From the one angle I thought the same thing. From the behind angle I wasn't so sure though.

Josh has ruptured his achilles tendon - poor guy iy is the same leg Rusty hit. Looks like the other crewman has a severely sprained ankle and might not miss a race (last I read).

I'm glad Daytona is over-the REAL season starts now

I agree, but I hate this upcoming California race. It is generally boring with a capital B (not much passing or drivers ticked off at each other lol).

That is correct-to have 2 races there is ridiculous and there's also thr road course later in year. No way should California have 3 races and Texas 2.

No kidding! I want Rockingham back for at least 1 race and The Lady In Black to go back to having 2 races.

Wahey! Am I a happy chappy or what.

Up until 5 minutes ago I had resigned myself to seeing no races this season. Although ESPN had just bought NASN (the channel that shows NASCAR over here) they couldn't do a deal over the European TV rights and I had already missed last weeks race.

Well worry no more, the deal is done and I can sit back and watch Junior take the flag tonight. Bring it on!

Typical California pretty boring and engine problems

#8 Jr

#9 Kasey Kahne

#1 Martin Truex

I am guessing the 21 died of engine disease as well.

Just once I would like Jeff B to not piss himself at the end of a race. Grrrr. I know, 4th is good but when you are 2nd with 4 laps, finishing 4th can feel like a disappointment. I have to confess feeling a little happiness when Havawreck ended up with a flat at the end.

Queen, I still got your back all year on the #31 Cingular Chevy and Jeff Burton.

Agreed it was really a disappointment to see him spin the tires and get passed by Nascar's pretty boys. At least Kenseth held off those two.

Car of Tomorrow hits the tracks this weekend at Bristol. Should only add to the excitement and unpredictability.

You ain't kidding!

I want Jeff B and Kenny S to come out of this clean. Kenny just because I want the 21 in the safety zone. He seems like a great guy, but he just doesn't concentrate on his cup ride enough. I can't wait to see what Jon will do when not on a slick track - he has been doing decently in the Busch series as has Ambrose (who has totally turned my opinion on him - at first I didn't think he was going to pan out, but he has definitely done well thus far in the 59).

My heart is still pounding from that finish.

I am not sure I can handle watching qualifying next week because of the situation for the 21 car. If the car doesn't make it in (whether Jon or Kenny is running it), they need to let Kenny go. The reason for having him was to keep the car in the top 35 while getting Jon some seat time.

Anyday 24 doesn't win a race is a good day.

I am glad we had that finish at the end because the 400 laps before that were incredibly boring. Hopefully they will have the kinks worked out for Martinsville this weekend.

Waltrip was in a curious wreck the other day. So, do you think it was drinking and driving or was he truly disoriented and wandered off after the wreck? From the pictures I saw on a nascar message board, he is lucky to be alive and lucky he didn't hurt others.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

JEFF BURTON WON AT TEXAS!!!!!
