As somebody who played organized sports throughout his youth, I strongly disagree. Emotions and team chemistry are IMMENSELY important. Of course, it's not enough to turn a crappy team ('06 Cubs) into division champs, but it can take a team on the bubble ('00 Sox) and put them over the top.
