Bonds to sue

Featured Replies

everyone who has criticized him. Thoughts?

Actually, sounds like he's calling out Schilling for when he said if the accusations weren't true, why wouldn't you sue the person.

Gage, please delete the thread entitled "Barry Lamar Bonds" or at least delete all my posts in it.

Never happen, because then HE would end up in court under oath himself. They will show what a control freak he is, and then not believe him when he says he didn't know, or ask, what the 'clear' and the 'creme' was. He can threaten all he wants, but it will never happen.

Besides, I don't think he'd have much merit and it would fizzle like the last time he tried to sue someone.

Bonds is trying to save face for the popular comments saying he's proven a cheater because he never went through with a lawsuit claiming otherwise.

Why doesn't he sue the guy that tried to kill him by giving him banned substances without telling him what they were? Has this question ever been asked?

For all the money hes going to waste on these lawyers he could have just thrown it my way and Id tell him exactly why there is absolutely no chance he will win.

He is a public figure, therefore defamation/slander require malice (the legal definition of malice, which is knowledge of its falseness). How exactly are they going to prove that Schilling knew Bonds wasn't cheating?

As for why he didnt sue the Dr. its because that would be a blood bath. The Dr. will go on the stand and say Bonds absolutely knew, Bonds will say he didnt, and then its for a jury to decide?

Not the type of odds you are risking when you already have all the money you ever need.

The only case of a guy coming close to winning one these I can think of is Bo Jackson. A Californina paper said his hip trouble was due to anabolic steroids. He immediately sued and held a press conference where he answered every question and accusation in person - no spokesman, no "no comment", just Bo in front of the mike taking on all comers.

Although the case was eventually dismissed on a technicality (jurisdiction), he got a retraction from the paper and an appology. His name was cleared, no pun, in the court of public opinion. If nothing else, the case reinforced his public image of an honest man and a man's man, in addition to being a great athlete. He remains widely admired to this day.

The contrast between Bo and Bonds is striking.
