August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 04:57 AM) At the end of the day, I love Ozzie. at least he gives a s***, I'll give him that.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) How much does his anger toward the organization have to do with it? Zero. Him and JR have been fine for a few years now. He's just happy being a retired ball player who plays a lot of golf.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) People could just refer back to this simple flow chart for their answer in the future. Q. Would Carlton Fisk work for the Chicago White Sox --->Does Jerry Reisndorf still run the team? -------->If Yes, then, answer= "f@#$ no!" Which is completely incorrect, according to him. The problem was never with JR specifically. It was with Shu.
August 30, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) Zero. Him and JR have been fine for a few years now. He's just happy being a retired ball player who plays a lot of golf. I hope that's true....and some day he'd get the itch to get back into the game. I'm not tryin' to stir the pot or anything...but it still seems that there would be just a tad ill will. Like Rocky said, "still got some stuff in the basement...." btw steff....LOVE the Bo idea! Edited August 30, 200718 yr by Wanne
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) btw steff....LOVE the Bo idea! Sadly, I don't think that's a possibility - at least in the near future. He's building a facility out near Lockport so I would assume that's going to take up a lot of his time over the next few summers. He wasn't sure in March if he would be back in AZ for ST'08.

Facility? For what?
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) Facility? For what? Sports training, iirc.
August 30, 200718 yr Sports training, iirc. Like the Ditka Dome? I too love the idea of Bo Jackson being around the clubhouse all the time. Wouldn't he be a better addition to this team than Harold Baines? Did the loss of Rock Raines hurt this team? How has Razor Shines fit in?
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 09:40 AM) JMO, but for those with a ring... the attitude is long gone and not coming back any time soon. That may be true, but a lot can happen in an off-season. Especially if new people with the correct attitude are brought in.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) 2005 White Sox=1985 Bears Wrapped up in their success and lost the hunger. In the case of the Bears, it was more like they lost their only competent QB.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) In the case of the Bears, it was more like they lost their only competent QB. defensive coordinator.
August 30, 200718 yr The Bears D was statistically better in '86 than '85. Their offense not being able to sustain drives (or score points) was the problem.

Their offense not being able to sustain drives (or score points) was the problem. they won with intimidation in 85 and the offense was just good enough. They lost their swagger after that.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) they won with intimidation in 85 and the offense was just good enough. They lost their swagger after that. That may be true, but they lost more offense than swagger. And I'd say that their offense was more than "just good enough" in '85. McMahon was a play-maker. 1985 Bears 456 points scored (#2 overall in points, #6 overall in total yds) 198 points allowed (#1 overall) 1986 Bears 352 points scored (#13 overall in points, #14 overall in total yds) 187 points allowed (#1 overall) Edited August 30, 200718 yr by WCSox

Harold is a wonderful guy, but imo brings very little to the table. I think that's obvious. I don't think he's well received. He has a bad rep of a vile mouth. IMO, that's why.

I don't think he's well received. He has a bad rep of a vile mouth. IMO, that's why. I like Harold and he was my hero back in the late 70s and 80s but I hear ya: I cannot see how this guy inspires anybody. He's a... wait for it... another flatliner. That's how he played, fine. As a coach? Mmmm.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Harold has a vile mouth? Wow, never would've gussed that... I think she was talking about Razor. Or Raines.
August 30, 200718 yr I never talked to the veteran guys about him but the younger guys love Razor Shines. Probably because they played for him and took to his aggressive style.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Harold has a vile mouth? Wow, never would've gussed that... No. Shines is rumored to have a vile mouth.
August 30, 200718 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) No. Shines is rumored to have a vile mouth. I had a brief encounter with Razor in ST. He was pretty damn funny.
