Cubs raising ticket prices by about 20%?

Interesting read in the Daily Herald today. I'm surprised it wasn't posted as it is interesting even if it involves the Cubs.

The Score reported yesterday that they were raising payroll to $115 or $120 million.

They have to. About 5 players have enormous backloaded contracts that increase every year.

I forgot about that. When I heard the report I assumed they planned on taking on more salary, as in more players. I guess they'll be increasing payroll whether they sign more guys or not.

The White Sox are also raising prices and they lost 90 games.

I can't really blame them. Every home game is sold out, and their customers have demonstrated that they are more than willing to pay higher prices, since a very large number of tickets are being resold at a higher price.

I don't blame them either, I'm just surprised the fans keep paying to see them.
