November 19, 200718 yr I have the pleasure of having one of the more useless cars in the winter, and on top of it I have 19 inch summer only racing-type tires on my car. Because of this, I had to purchase snow tires and rims for the winter months. So far I havent had to put them on quite yet, but because of impending snow I will have them installed on my G35 tomorrow. Anyone else have to go through this hassle and does it make a huge difference?
November 19, 200718 yr It absolutely makes a HUGE difference. Especially in a mid-high power RWD car, like yours. All-season tires are mediocore at everything and good at nothing. It's a bit of a PITA to swap your wheels twice a year, but you'll appreciate the difference. And don't try driving in the snow with ultra-high performance summer tires. You won't go anywhere.

November 21, 200718 yr People still use snow tires? Wow! That'd be a real pain, but I think it'd be easier than switching my mower deck for the plw on my John Deere every fall and spring. It takes a couple hours and you have to guess the weather patterns - I've mowed as late as Dec 7 and as early as mid Feb. At least if you put the snow tires on a bit early you can still drive. You just look like a dork is all.

November 21, 200718 yr Just get a beater car. I don't want to get salt and s*** on my Vette, so I store it.

Not exactly a good combo in the snow. So I trade them out for 17inch wheels with blizzaks. Rides totally different and I already notice improved traction in the rain.

November 25, 200718 yr I might get a Mini soon, I saw they have a free option to change to all season tires, I'm guessing I'll do this, think it will make a big difference? Edited November 25, 200718 yr by 3 BeWareTheNewSox 5

I dont know, nothing is better than the handling and ride on some 19 inch summer racing tires. My blizzaks dont nearly perform the same way on the highway.
