November 28, 200718 yr Troy Percival To Sign With Rays According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Rays are "moving toward a deal" to sign free agent reliever Troy Percival. This could give them a potentially solid veteran relief group in Juan Rincon, Dan Wheeler, Percival, and Al Reyes. Percival was known to have been seeking a multiyear deal (I'm guessing two years, $10MM or so). Other suitors: Yankees, Brewers, Giants, and Astros.
November 28, 200718 yr I thought Percival would have been a better signing than Linebrink, but I thought he could be had for only a 1-year deal. 2-years is a non-starter for me.
November 28, 200718 yr Author Rincon is suppose to be included in the Delmon Young deal supposedly. Wheeler I have no idea.
November 28, 200718 yr QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) How'd they get Rincon and Wheeler? And when? That's the other Twinkies/Rays thread. At least for Steroids Rincon. The Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays are close to a swap of two potential future stars. The Twins would acquire outfielder Delmon Young in exchange for right-hander Matt Garza, sources told ESPN.com's Keith Law. The potential swap was first reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which reported the deal could involve as many as six players, with shortstop Jason Bartlett and reliever Juan Rincon going to Tampa Bay in the deal and shortstop Brendan Harris and outfield prospect Jason Pridie coming to Minnesota.
November 28, 200718 yr Wheeler came over in the Wiggington deal last year. Cuz the Stros really needed Wiggington.
