July 4, 200322 yr I must be really getting old. The Cubs' relievers struggled mightily tonight -- Remlinger, Alfonseca, Cruz -- and I was feeling sorry for them. Down 12-2 going into the 9th.
July 4, 200322 yr that's not old, that's just senile - hell, I never feel feel sorry for them Me neither. I got quite the from it while driving during work. Santo sounded like he was gonna jump out the booth. He declared, "Cruz isn't ready for this League!" Then to listen to the dejected sCrUBBIE fans on the Score and AM 1000 afterwards was sweet music to my ears. A little payback for Corky's "hop" last night. Do as I do..... when you start to feel sorry for the sCrUBS (I NEVER do), think of all the times you got pissed at Corkin' ShamME Soso "hopping" out of the box. That should take care of any apathy you may be feeling for the Assholes on Addison.

July 4, 200322 yr Isn't it great. The Sox go and add two quality players and are playing some awesome ball. While the Cubs couldn't get the guy they wanted (Lowell), and are playing awful baseball. What a great feeling.

What a great feeling. Someone said the other day "The Sox added Alomar and Everett, the Cubs added Josh Paul. I wonder which Chicago team is going in the right direction?" Not sure who said it, but not only is that funny, but it is the truth.

July 4, 200322 yr I feel sorry for the ScRubs. It is so much more fun when they get eliminated in September than July. Those ScRub fans all giddy and bouncing off the ivy covered walls hoping they'll win the cup or bowl or whatever that thing is at the end of the season. Teaching a new generation of ScRub fans the magic number and watching their hopes turn to dust. Now that's fun. Watching them slide into fourth place in mid in July is way too soon.
July 4, 200322 yr I disagree - I think the early drop is just fine because of how funny their fans thought the early Sox struggles were. I have mostly Cub fans for co-workers and while I don't have the level of hate for the Lovable Losers that most folks here do, I was getting a little perturbed by the smirking Dusty Cult Followers. Those people have quieted down and put their smirks in their back pockets, which is nice to see. I have mixed emotions about the team itself - there are a lot of players I like on that team, such as Prior, Wood, Alou and Patterson. But watching the Sammy Sosa Diminishing Skills Season has been VERY satisfying, to say the least!!! If and when the Sox draw 30 to 35,000 on a regular basis, the second-to-last joke will be taken out of the Cubbie jokebook. The Ligues will always be available, unfortunately...at least until some drunken fratboy f***tard does something equally stupid at Chewing Gum Field.
July 4, 200322 yr ...at least until some drunken fratboy f***tard does something equally stupid at Chewing Gum Field. 8:20 a.m. and that may be the best quote of the day. LOL before my second cup of coffee.
July 4, 200322 yr Author I have a question about the Cubs that only a Chicago citizen can answer. Whenever I tune them in on WGN, they always show some bozo on Waveland Avenue in some sort of peacock costume, or something. Even when it's hotter than hell. Now, no sane person would do that, only an employee, right? Is this some new way of attracting fans? And why does that idiot(s) get so much attention? It is a new level of stupidity on the part of Cub fans. If some White Sox fan/employee ever resorts to that level for attention, I hope one of you local guys will straighten him/her out.
July 4, 200322 yr Last night watching that Cubs/Phillies game when Cruz was pitching, when he finally threw a strike, the crowd gave him an ovation. It was brutal yet oh so very fun to watch Cruz struggle. Jim Fainter, I think you may be talking about the lobster thing [the guy is in a red suit, correct?] I think it's just an employee for this seafood place that is out there trying to get on TV to get publicity for his place. Not 100% sure though.
July 4, 200322 yr It is a new level of stupidity on the part of Cub fans. I'd say scalping their own tickets was a new level of stupidity.
July 4, 200322 yr The Lovable Losers are getting slapped around again - 11 to 5 Cardinals in the 9th - and lots of red shirts in the crowd. The Cardinals are a good example of a team that does it right - they go out and get the players they need, and they somehow convince them to stay and live in the 7th Ring Of Hell, otherwise known as St. Louis!!!
