Car Suggestions

Featured Replies

I'm 22, out of college and now have my own full time income. I've been lucky enough to be borrowing my dad's 2nd car since I got out of school, but its getting to the time where I need to buy my own.

I'm looking for a car in the $12,000 range, I can go up to $14,000 but I want to be very very happy with the vehicle to go that high.

I'm looking for something that meets the following

-Used Car

-No older than 2003

-Gets good-decent gas milage

-Sedan or Coupe

-40,000 miles or less

-Something that looks decent and wouldn't be stereotyped as a "girl's car"

-A car that is reliable enough where I won't have to get it fixed much

I was looking at a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT because it met the price range and looked real good, but after reading reviews I feel like that car is not all that reliable, is bad in the winter, and is made more for Asian-heighted people.

Anybody have any suggestions on what to buy considering my price range and other criteria?

Mazda 6

Impala or Maxima.

Some would argue a Tiburon is a girls car. I would look at Civics. It would pretty much fit all your criteria.

Yeah I've wondered that too. Although maybe I should stop being prideful and stop caring what people classify my car as, especially since I am by no means a car guy.

Are you paying cash or loan? I'd try and spend some more to get a better car.

I have a 2004 Impala I bought new, and I love it.

Mazda or Honda would do it for me.

Honda Civic

Mazda 3

Nissan Maxima or Altima

Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix (these are hatchbacks, but they're 4-doors and quite versatile)

Used Scions might be in your range. Several of my friends have them and haven't had any problems.

Anybody hear anything on Mitsubishi Lancers?

I know a girl who's had hers for the last four years, and she hasn't had any problems with it.

I just bought an '02 Suburu Outback for $10K. It's a wagon so you may not be interested, but the AWD is awesome.

One of my friends spent 40k on a Lancer Evolution MR and flipped it on LSD, that was a fun day...

...Lake Shore DR, not the drug

It's probably a good thing you cleared that up, because from the way it is worded, it sounds like he flipped it when he was tripping on acid
