March 15, 200818 yr http://www.sbrforum.com/Headlines/MLB/58490.aspx MESA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Chicago Cubs shortstop Alex Cintron was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a foul ball during Friday's 6-5 Cactus League loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Cintron, who is trying to make the Cubs as a non-roster invitee, was standing in the on-deck circle during the bottom of the sixth inning when Mark DeRosa's foul ball hit him squarely in the jaw. He lay face down on grass for a few minutes as trainers rushed to his side. The 29-year-old Cintron was rushed to the hospital for X-rays. No further information was disclosed. A seven-year veteran, Cintron signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on February 18 after spending the last two seasons with the Chicago White Sox. He hit .243 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 68 games in 2007. Cintron is a career .277 hitter with 32 homers and 212 RBI in 598 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks and White Sox. Ouch. Hope he is ok.
March 15, 200818 yr somehow these three hospitalizations of cubs players is going to amount to a new curse.
March 15, 200818 yr That sucks. He was one of their best hitters this spring. Okay maybe not. But he had a shot a making the team. That's more than I can say for the vast majority of non roster invites. Edited March 15, 200818 yr by max power
