July 6, 200322 yr i don't know if anyone has discussed this, but according to the times, sox will send cotts and gordon for weaver. i think this deal will suck big time. esp with the way koch is pitching. i think weaver is over hype.
July 6, 200322 yr Same here, LDF. If the Yanks dislike Weaver so much, why are they able to get so much for him. We will need Gordon ourselves THIS year. If they get us to throw in Cotts too, I don't even want to think about it. I can't wait for the trading deadline to come and go.

July 6, 200322 yr From the Southtown: Sox official denied a report that the Sox and New York Yankees were close to a deal that would bring starting pitcher Jeff Weaver to the South Side for reliever Tom Gordon and minor league lefty pitcher Neal Cotts. He called it absolutely "untrue." The report was published in the Newark Star-Ledger on Saturday, and ESPN also reported the rumored deal.

Ya, I know..just wanted to point out. Kind of like how at times we here what the Sox are offering for a trade, but thats what they want to give up, not what the other team is asking for.
