If we look towards the future and not just "we want to win this year", which of course I know we all do, Joe Crede should be signed and we should keep Fields for either 1B or DH.

Actually if we are planning for the future signing Crede for above market value while you have a low cost alternative in the wings would be an awful move. Crede is going to command 5+ years at probably more than 12 million per.

If you are talking about trading Konerko, you have severely hurt our offense. Crede is a good player, and is clutch, but he isnt Konerko at the dish. Getting rid of Joe, inserting Fields does more for this team than signing Joe to an overpriced extension, sorry.
