With 28 extra-base hits through 38 games, Lance is on pace to challenge a record that still actually means something: extra-base hits in a single season.

2. Lou Gehrig 117

3. Barry Bonds 107

4. Chuck Klein 107

5. Todd Helton 105

And a pretty classy guy doing it.

I was watching a game yesterday, either on ESPN or flipping past the Cubs game, and an announcer said that Berkman was 18 for his last 24, then he proceeded to go 2 for 3 yesterday. Thats ridiculous

He went 3-4 tonight with two more extra-base hits. His batting average is up to .393, and his slugging percentage is an even .800.

The guy is clearly out of his mind.

there are so many guys in the NL having MVP type years its ridiculous, especially when considering the fact that no offensive players in the AL are having typical MVP type years (hamilton youk manny or quentin...but probably cliff lee)

in the NL you have utley berkman chipper burrell dlee hanley ramirez and even nate mclouth and ryan ludwick all having pretty ridiculous years

2 for 4 w/ a homer and a steal. The guy is unreal.

Houston has him for a steal, too. His contract averages about $14 mil per year. For the numbers he puts up, that's a great deal.

14 game hitting streak that and it's not a cheap hitting streak either.

I'm glad he wasn't this hot during the 2005 World Series. We might've needed five games to beat the Astros instead of four.

He reached base three times in five plate appearances on Thursday, and his May OBP actually went down from .648 (35/54) to .644 (38/59).
