I was thinking that the White Sox should not move Alexei to SS in 2009 and allow him to continue to master the 2B position. The Sox can sign a SS in the FA market. What do you guys think?

It depends on other players. If OC hits the market and Getz or Richar are ready to step in, then Ramirez should go to SS. If the Sox can keep or replace Cabrera with a quality SS, Alexi should stay at 2B.

I would be happy to give OC a 3 year deal worth a substantial amount of money. You leave Alexi at 2B and if Beckham develops as advertised you can consider moving OC in the final year of his contract.

Agreed. I'm just not sure that OC would be willing. Though things have been better as of late, I'm not sure OC wants to play through the cold Aprils.

at OC's age and production level, it wouldnt be long term demands or crazy money. He's been so solid that i hate to close the door on that possibility.

i have seen only a little of Alexei at ss, but the little i saw involved a wild throw. he just seems so good at 2b that i hate to take a chance.

My end goal for this year is to see more of Alexei at ss in blowouts (us winning)... and also to have an idea of where Richar's at (which i know is going to be tougher)

if Crede and Cabrera both leave, we need to put that savings to some serious, serious use.

Depends mostly on Richar, imo. Assuming Ramirez keeps hitting like he has and the coaches believe he can handle ss, the best situation involves a league-average hitting Richar at 2b, 2 extra draft picks, and $10 mil to play with. That would be one damn nice situation.

Richar is still kind of a wild card. If all else fails and he's still productive with no spot, we trade him for a position of need.

BTW, he appears to have won the battle he was having against the suck early on, he hit .297 in June with a decent .791 OPS.
