The Sox are 3rd in the majors in run differential and since May 15 have had the best record in baseball, better than the darling Twins, Red Sox, Devil Rays or Cubs. (Yes, picking a day and going forward can be considered cherry picking, but it's 2 months and the hellacious June schedule was in there so I think it's an OK gauge to use).

 

Do they look awesome all the time? No. Are there areas they can improve in? Yes. However this team had a very good first half + of the year. All of the "elite" teams in both leagues have flaws, the Sox are no different in that area. Danks and Floyd and MBs turn around have been great. Hopefully Javy will get his head out of his ass and Jose can settle down to become a serviciable number 5 starter. Thome is hitting better, Swisher had one hell of a June and Ramirez is suprising people every day.

 

There are a ton of positives for this team and certainly some negatives. It seems there will be meaningful games played all year for the Sox, and I like their chances in the division.

Also would be nice to figure out what's going on with Linebrink.

 

I'd really like to see if we could find a decent starter.

 

With Konerko, I'm thinking no matter how horrible he is, they're not going to pull the plug on him. I mean, the Captain riding the bench? Just can't see it.

 

Find a decent starter? Good point for insurance pursposes but I wonder if Esteban Loaiza is stil seen as that insurance? I think the next week will be intersting and maybe KW thinks he has to make a move especially with the way Jose has looked. Someone mentioned a dead arm and that I would suppose is very possible, but you hope we see signs of him coming out of that before July 31st when a trade decision might have to be made.

I think they would bench Paulie.

 

Ozzie's history dictates that he'll give the veteran every chance to get back, and then make a change. Granted, I'm probably thinking of closers (which is a little different)... but if there's a very long stretch of problems for a vet, Ozzie will give a younger player a chance.

Not to mention he is a defensive liability now also. Oh i wish this guy spent the rest of the year down in triple -a.

Why not write "Pauliesucks" and then just move on to a new idea.

Is there any more to say? People want him released, benched, sent down, most feel he won't be traded cause of the clause.

Aren't Paulie posts pretty redundant? We know many despise him.

So just write Pauliesucks from now on and we'll get the drift.

I think the think that really sucks is the Twins and Tigers have had some losses lately and we seem to not be able to put the foot to their throats and really take this division.
